Before you donate for the first time, we recommend you read our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/api.stanfordbloodcenter.org\/admin\/preparing-to-donate\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"530\">Preparing to Donate<\/a>&nbsp;page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">DONORS MUST:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>be at least 17 years of age (16-year-olds may donate blood with a parent\/guardian\u2019s consent). Donors under the age of 17 should bring the completed consent form when registering to donate. The consent form\u00a0can be obtained:<ul><li>on our website at <a href=\"https:\/\/stanfordbloodcenter.org\/eligibility\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/stanfordbloodcenter.org\/eligibility\">stanfordbloodcenter.org\/eligibility<\/a> (external website link)<\/li><li>at a Stanford Blood Center donor center<\/li><li>at a Stanford Blood Center community blood drive, or<\/li><li>from your high school blood drive coordinator<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>weigh at least 110 pounds for donors 19 or older (Donors under 19 \u2014 see height\/weight requirements)<\/li><li>be free of cold and flu symptoms (allergies ok; as are most medications)<\/li><li>eat before donating and drink plenty of fluids<\/li><li>bring photo ID<\/li><li>fill out a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/api.stanfordbloodcenter.org\/admin\/medical-history-questionnaire\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"597\">Medical History Questionnaire<\/a>\u00a0(which will be provided at the time of your donation or by may be completed in advance using SBC <em>pre<\/em>Check\u2122 ) and discuss answers confidentially with a Medical Historian<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Male Donors 18-Years-Old or Younger<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>If you are:<\/td><td>4\u20197\u201d or less<\/td><td>4\u20198\u201d<\/td><td>4\u20199\u201d<\/td><td>4\u201910\u201d<\/td><td>4\u201911\u201d<\/td><td>5\u2019 or taller<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>You must weigh at least:<\/td><td>130 lbs.<\/td><td>126 lbs.<\/td><td>123 lbs.<\/td><td>118 lbs.<\/td><td>114 lbs.<\/td><td>110 lbs.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Female Donors 18-Years-Old or Younger<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>If you are:<\/td><td>5\u20191\u201d or less<\/td><td>5\u20192\u201d<\/td><td>5\u20193\u201d<\/td><td>5\u20194\u201d<\/td><td>5\u20195\u201d<\/td><td>5\u20196\u201d or taller<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>You must weigh at least:<\/td><td>133 lbs.<\/td><td>129 lbs.<\/td><td>124 lbs.<\/td><td>120 lbs.<\/td><td>115 lbs.<\/td><td>110 lbs.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Nonbinary Donors 18-Years-Old or Younger<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>If you are:<\/td><td>5\u20191\u201d or less<\/td><td>5\u20192\u201d<\/td><td>5\u20193\u201d<\/td><td>5\u20194\u201d<\/td><td>5\u20195\u201d<\/td><td>5\u20196\u201d or taller<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>You must weigh at least:<\/td><td>133 lbs.<\/td><td>129 lbs.<\/td><td>124 lbs.<\/td><td>120 lbs.<\/td><td>115 lbs.<\/td><td>110 lbs.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Anyone 19-Years-Old or Older<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>For all heights, you must weigh at least:<\/td><td>110 lbs.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The&nbsp;U.S Food and Drug Administration&nbsp;(FDA), in an attempt to ensure a safe blood supply, has imposed strict controls on who may donate. If you discover that you are not eligible to give blood, you can still save lives by providing blood for&nbsp;research,&nbsp;coordinating a blood drive within your organization,&nbsp;volunteering your time, or&nbsp;contributing financially. However you participate in our programs, you are helping maintain the health of our community.
